Lascia passare solo una gamma molto ristretta di lunghezze d&#8217;onda della luce visibile, aumentando il contrasto, offrendoti le condizioni ideali per osservare i resti di supernova e le nebulose planetarie. Il filtro O-III a banda stretta isola solo le due linee di ossigeno ionizzato (496 e 501 nm) emesse dalle nebulose planetarie diffuse e dalle nebulose estremamente deboli. I filtri O-III funzionano idealmente con telescopi pi\u00f9 grandi a partire da un&#8217;apertura di 200 mm. Con telescopi pi\u00f9 grandi, l&#8217;osservatore ha migliori opportunit\u00e0 di identificare le nebulose nel cielo.
