The T-ring is an essential accessory for anyone wanting to attach a DSLR to a telescope’s optical tube. It is specific to the brand of camera and is the link between the camera body and the instrument’s photo adapter. Each ring has a specific length that ensures a fixed distance of 56.2mm between the camera sensor and the seating surface of the instrument’s photo adapter.
Takahashi T-rings consist of 2 elements: a central ring with a female T-thread (M42x0.75) and the external mount specific to the camera brand. If necessary, it is possible to remove the central ring and replace it with a model that has either an M54x0.75 male thread (the ring becomes a “Wide T-ring”) or a M52x0.75 female thread (the ring becomes to a “Wide FS-60 T-ring” for the Takahashi FS-60 refractor).
