Sun observation made easy! Skywatcher’s clever and innovative SolarQuest™ mount is extremely user-friendly and makes observing the sun with a solar telescope particularly safe by automatically finding and tracking the sun. Just level the tripod and point the solar telescope anywhere to the left of the sun, and Skywatcher’s revolutionary HelioFind™ solar observing technology will do the rest automatically! With the push of just one button, the telescope is leveled and the mount uses the GPS data to calculate the altitude and azimuth of the sun, based on the local time and location. The telescope is then moved to the required altitude and the mount begins searching for the sun in a clockwise direction. The sun sensor detects the sun and ensures that it always remains in the field of view of the eyepiece. The SolarQuest™ mount can be used by educational institutions, beginners and experienced observers alike. Once you have your telescope attached to the mount, this mount is a great tool for observing sunspots, solar eclipses, surface detail on the Sun, and transits of the inner planets in front of the Sun. The lightweight and portable SolarQuest™ mount is quiet and has a payload capacity of up to 4 kg. Telescopes with a standard Skywatcher / Vixen standard dovetail bar can be attached.
