The Seestar S30 Pro is a compact smart telescope with fully integrated optics, camera, mount, controller and power supply. It is designed for automated sky observation and astrophotography and allows operation without additional external components.
The system uses a dual camera system with two Sony sensors. A Sony IMX585 sensor with 8.3 megapixels is used for the telephoto range, supplemented by a Sony IMX586 sensor for the wide-angle range, also with 8.3 megapixels. Both deliver a resolution of 2160 × 3840 pixels. The field of view is 4.6° at telephoto and 63° at wide-angle.
The telephoto lens has an aperture of 30 mm with a focal ratio of f/5.3 and a focal length of 160 mm. The wide-angle lens has an aperture of 3.4 mm, f/1.75 and a focal length of 6 mm. Both optics are based on an apochromatic 4-lens design with ED glass. Autofocus is supported at wide angle. The focus range extends from 6 m to infinity in the telephoto channel and from 0.1 m to infinity in the wide-angle channel.
Several filters are integrated internally, including a UV/IR cut filter, an astronomical light pollution filter with OIII (30 nm) and Ha (20 nm) bandwidth and a dark field filter. A magnetic solar filter can also be attached externally. Images are stored on an integrated 128 GB eMMC memory, output is possible in JPEG and FITS, videos are saved as MP4 or AVI.
The integrated alt-azimuth mount also supports an equatorial mode. It is controlled via WLAN, Bluetooth or USB-C. WLAN is supported in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Power is supplied via USB-C with 5 V and up to 3 A. According to the manufacturer, the integrated 6000 mAh battery enables an operating time of up to 6 hours. The housing is designed for operation between -10 °C and +40 °C.
