The Sky-Watcher HELIOSTAR 100Hα is a 100mm premium H-alpha high performance solar telescope designed for the interested solar observer and photographer, offering exceptional performance of 0.5 Angstrom or better. The Heliostar 100Hα is a precise tool for solar astronomy and comes with extensive accessories including a 22mm 70° wide angle eyepiece, a solar zenith prism and a solar finder scope.
Hydrogen-alpha solar observing allows you to observe the incredible dynamics on the sun’s surface that a white light solar filter cannot provide. Starting with the prominences at the edge of the sun, active sunspot regions, flares, solar granulation, thin, snake-like plasma filaments and much more, which you can experience during breathtaking observations or capture on photos. When observing the Sun in the narrow H-alpha wavelength, the observer is rewarded with exciting and impressive real-time observations of our nearest star with its fiery, majestic activity.
The HELIOSTAR-100Hα uses a variety of technologies to protect the human eye during observation, including a coating that reflects infrared radiation, a special filter that blocks heat, and a filter that blocks UV light and prevents the effects of stray light. It uses a combination of front and rear filters to allow only monochromatic light with a wavelength of 656.28 nanometers, which is emitted by the hydrogen atoms, to enter and block all other wavelengths. This allows the observation of active prominences in the H-alpha wavelength.
Sky-Watcher’s Solis Etalon technology allows the Heliostar-100Hα to achieve a very narrow bandwidth of just 0.5Angstrom without the need for an expensive second etalon with the same performance. This allows the observer to experience the sun in detailed images directly “out of the box” without additional, expensive accessories.
The Sky-Watcher HELIOSTAR-100Hα complies with the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2:2015 (filters for direct observation of the sun). Always use the telescope according to the instructions and always be particularly careful when observing the sun!

Attention: The 20mm blocking filter in the removable star diagonal mirror is part of the Heliostar safety equipment. Never use the telescope with another star diagonal mirror!
